About Tropicana Casino in Las Vegas
Overview
If you've ever been to a casino, you know the feeling as your eyes and ears take in the pulsing lights and steady din. Casinos offer excitement whether you gamble, enjoy the shows, like to shop or want to eat. The Tropicana Casino in Las Vegas offers you everything you need to enjoy your stay, with concerts, dinner and show packages, hotel accommodations, personalized service--and of course, slot machines, table games and poker rooms.
History
The Tropicana opened on April 14, 1957, as a luxury hotel, not a casino. It cost $15 million and sat on seventeen acres. Since the 1950s, the Tropicana has frequently expanded and undergone changes of ownership. In 1959, they added a 150-room section, and by 1961 they had added a golf course. The Ramada Inns, Inc. bought the Tropicana in 1979. By 1984, the resort spanned over 36 acres of land. In 1984, the Aztar Corporation took over the operation, and in 2006, Tropicana Entertainment, LLC acquired the resort and casino. Today, the Tropicana has 1,871 rooms, a 61,000-square-foot casino and an expansive convention space.
Types
The Tropicana Casino in Las Vegas offers the latest slot machines, table games and poker rooms. They pride themselves on having "some of the loosest multi-game slot machines in Las Vegas." Loose slot machines are set to pay back a higher percentage than other machines. They offer the popular Wheel of Fortune slot machines, touch screens and high-limit slot machines. Table games with varying limits include craps and blackjack, manned by helpful dealers. The poker rooms offer Texas Hold'em Poker and daily poker tournaments. Lessons are available every day.
Considerations
The busiest times in the casino are evenings and weekends. If you want to hit the blackjack tables with lower table limits, go in the mid-morning or early afternoon. Usually there are less people, fewer open tables, fewer dealers and lower minimums.
The Tropicana offers the Winner's Club membership program, which gives you cash back bonuses and discounts as well as possible private invitations to tournaments and special events. Membership is free. To earn points, use the membership card every time you play.
If you want entertainment, consider the "musical extravaganza," the Follies Bergere. The entertainment includes showgirls doing the Can-Can as well as comedy acts and spectacular scenery.
The Tropicana also has The Comedy Shop, with stand-up comics and a variety of lounges where you can watch TV on a fifteen-foot screen, see well-known acts, enjoy karaoke and try unusual cocktails.
Benefits
For those who come to the casino and wish to stay overnight or longer, the Tropicana offers quality accommodations. The Paradise Tower is located off from the casino floor and offers a view of the Las Vegas Strip. It has the basic comforts of home: refrigerator, hair dryer, ironing board and king, queen, or double beds. The Garden Rooms have private balconies, waterfalls and pools for a more luxurious stay. There is a spa, a gym and a variety of dining experiences including show and dinner packages.
Features
The Tropicana features package specials to make staying at the casino and resort more enticing. The Paradise in Tropicana special is a two-night package that includes two 25-minute massages at the spa and a Continental breakfast. With a walkway to MGM Grand and views of the Las Vegas Strip, this is one of the better values in Las Vegas.
