About Las Vegas Vacation Packages
Overview
Over 34 million people visit Las Vegas every year, and not all of them are gamblers. Some people visit Vegas for its infamous shows, the wonderful nightlife and the endless shopping. And although for many years it was thought to be the best city for adult entertainment, today Las Vegas is becoming kid-friendly, as well.
Types
A typical Las Vegas package will include airfare, hotel-stay and a dinner-show combination for one price. For a family deal, it is probably best to choose a package that charges per person due to the unique size of some families. Hotels can charge as little as $49 a night per person.
Features
There are numerous themed hotels in Las Vegas that compete for the family business. The Circus Circus Casino has the Adventuredome, a huge 5-acre indoor amusement park. It offers rides and entertainment for the adults and the children. The rollercoaster attraction at the New York-New York is infamous, and there is also the Lion Habitat at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. Not to mention all the poolside fun at any of the theme hotels.
Features
The "Sin City" nightlife is strictly for the adults, so the children have to sit this part out. When it is time to let the hair down, the MGM Grand Hotel has Tabu, which is a very upscale lounge that offers a relaxed atmosphere. The Moon, located at top of the Palm's Fantasy Tower, offers a retractable ceiling that opens to the Vegas skyline.
Warning
Even though Las Vegas can be a very affordable vacation get-away, travelers need to choose vacation time wisely. Vegas is in the desert, and its known for very high temperatures during the summer months, so if traveling with children, this is something to keep in mind.
Benefits
Traveling to Las Vegas during the off-season and through the week will save a lot of money. In addition, planning a vacation a few months ahead of time will save travelers money as well. Treat a Las Vegas vacation package as any other purchase and do some comparison shopping first. Travelocity, Orbitz and Expedia allow travelers to compare prices and packages before making a commitment (see Resources below).
