History
Built in 1969, the Las Vegas Hilton was originally the International Hotel. Purchased by Hilton Corporation shortly after its opening, the International Hotel was renamed the Las Vegas Hilton in 1971. Since opening the Las Vegas Hilton has hosted many of Las Vegas' most famous performers including Barry Manilow, Elvis, Barbara Streisand and Liberace. In the past several decades of operation, this Hilton has undergone 5 major renovations to become the largest Hilton Hotel in the world.
Geography
The Las Vegas Hilton is located on Paradise Road, one block east of the world famous Las Vegas Strip in Nevada. The Las Vegas Hilton is approximately 4 miles from McCarran International Airport, the main airport used by Las Vegas travelers. The Hilton is a stop on the Las Vegas monorail system and is connected directly to the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Size
The Hilton hotel in Las Vegas has nearly 3,000 guest rooms and 305 suites. In addition to the large number of guest rooms the Las Vegas Hilton also boasts 200,000 square feet of convention space, 16 ballrooms and meeting spaces as large as 70,000 square feet. One of the largest hotels in the world, this Hilton location is also home to 16 restaurants, a 1,600 seat theater, a health club, spa and casino.
