Las Vegas' Excalibur Hotel is a medieval castle-themed resort casino. Its exterior is an elaborate castle design, complete with turrets, castle gates, drawbridge and a moat. Excalibur's casino includes 100,000 square feet of gaming area, with games of crap, blackjack, roulette, baccarat, poker, Megabucks, keno, slots, race and sport booking, lessons and more. History
The Excalibur Casino held its grand opening on June 19, 1990. Owned by MGM MIRAGE™, its initial cost was $290 million. Its architectural design, a fanciful sprawling medieval castle, provides the setting for its trademark entertainment event, the Tournament of Kings Dinner Show. This production is adapted from the King Arthur legend, which begins with a medieval-styled dinner. While dining King Arthur style, the show features jousting, dragons, acrobats, invading armies and pyrotechnics.
Types
The Excalibur offers three types of hotel accommodations; widescreen rooms, guest rooms and guest suites. There are 2,000 widescreen rooms that each include a 42-inch plasma screen television. Guest rooms are available with one king or two queen-sized beds. Excalibur also has the Turret Room, which is a castle-themed guest room. Guest suites are available in the spa room or parlor suite format; spa rooms have a two person spa. The patio room is an expanded suite, including a full living room and dining area, with a refrigerator and a guest bathroom.
