About Casino Games
Overview
Casinos offer the chance for players to win a lot of money--or lose a lot. Almost every casino features the same types of games, and they all cater to different preferences and offer different payouts. There are casinos located all over the world for people to enjoy.
Types
One of the most common type found at casinos are slot machines. Classic slot machines are known as "reel slots" and feature three to five reels that spin with different images on them. Players must match the images to win prizes. Common reel slots feature fruits, bars and the lucky number "7." Modern slot machines are known as "video slots" and they feature flat-touch screens with interactive games. The use of video screens allows different themes for the machines like "Star Wars," "Monopoly" and "Dukes of Hazzard." Many pop-culture movies and television shows have been converted into slot machines. Video-poker slot machines feature a variety of poker games like "Joker Poker," "Double Jackpot," "Deuces Wild" and "Bonus Poker." In video poker, players are dealt five-card hands and get one chance to discard and re-draw to form the best hand possible.
Benefits
Most games have better odds for the casino, but in a casino poker room, the games pit you against other players and it is up to your own skill and luck to win. Texas Hold 'Em is one of the most popular casino poker games. Players can participate in a cash game or sign up for a tournament. Other poker games found at casinos are Omaha, Stud, Baduji and Razz. All of the games are held at full-sized poker tables with real dealers, but some casinos have implemented new digital tables where everything is computerized, and players use a personalized touch screen during the game. Casinos make money from these games by charging an ante during hands at a cash table or by having players pre-pay during a tournament. The casino's rake is usually just a small percentage of the buy-in and is often included in the price.
Features
A section of the casino is usually reserved for a collection of "table games." In order to play table games, players must purchase chips from a cashier or at the table. Blackjack is a common table game where players must reach the score of 21 without going over. You only play against the dealer in this game, and in most table games. Acey Duecey is a game where two cards are dealt and the third card must be in between those two cards to win. Roulette is a wheel-spinning game where players place bets on numbers, colors and other sections of numbers, or odd and even. Craps is a dice-rolling game where players place bets on what the dice roll outcome will be. This game draws huge crowds when played at casinos.
Function
Some casino games function on a lottery-based system. Keno is fast-paced lottery with new games drawn every eight to fifteen minutes. Players pick out numbers and make a bet selection. Casinos usually have keno monitors plastered all around the casino so people can do other things at the same time. Bingo is a popular casino game, filling up huge halls with hundreds of people on some occasions. Players get bingo cards with 25 numbers on them and must fill a pattern on the card with numbers that are called. Casinos may also feature a race book or sports book. At a race book, people can bet on different horse and dog races and watch them live as they happen. At a sports book, players can bet on almost every sport and also watch games live on television screens.
Considerations
Less-common table games also offer winning potential. Spanish 21 is a lot like Blackjack, except Spanish 21 uses 48-card decks instead of 52-card decks. All of the 10s are removed from the deck in Spanish 21. This game is more beneficial for the player because it is less likely that the dealer will hit blackjack, and the player never pushes a hand when they do have blackjack. Caribbean Stud is another table game. Players are dealt five cards face-down and are shown one of the dealer's five cards. They can choose to continue the hand (or fold it) and their hand must beat the dealer's hand to win the bet. This game is played solely against the dealer and other players cannot discuss each other's hands. Three-Card Poker is the same as Caribbean Stud, except players cannot see any of the dealer's cards and everyone is only dealt three cards. In Let It Ride, players are also dealt three cards and use two community cards to form a five-card hand. During the course of the hand, players can pull back bets if they are not confident with their hand or they can "Let It Ride."
